- •Co-authored the Logic Theorist (1956) with Allen Newell and Herbert Simon — the first program deliberately engineered to perform reasoning.
- •Co-developed the Information Processing Language (IPL) family, the first list-processing languages, which introduced the linked list.
- •Co-created the General Problem Solver, the attempt to build a single reasoning engine for any formal problem.
- •Designed JOSS, an early interactive time-sharing language, on his own.
